the only rule is that there are no rules
well, that's not entirely true. there are a few rules here, but they're all for the purpose of maintaining a decent place to hang out:
- don't be an ass: fundamentally this is nice board, and i, Angie, intend to keep it that way. the rule here isn't quite as strong as Scott Alexander's "Victorian Sufi Buddha Lite"—that is, at least two of "true", "kind", "necessary"—but that's a good general guideline. you get a point in your favour if the necessary thing you're saying that's not true or not kind, or the true thing you're saying that's not necessary or not kind, is funny, but you better make sure everyone is gonna actually think it's funny.
- corollary: this is an antibullying site. you may think your habit of telling harsh truths or spreading rumours that you think are necessary is cool and funny and whatnot, but chances are i don't see it that way. chances are i think you are actively poisoning every discussion you attempt to contribute to and making things worse for everybody by setting the equilibrium tone of discussion closer and closer to its global minimum. don't do that! that also means don't be racist or anything like that
- generally sfw material: be a little cheeky here and there for sure but just be aware that this is my domain name and all aha.
- and finally nothing illegal in the United States of America: this one's simple really. don't post death threats, don't post anything nasty. this doesn't mean you can't post abt how much weed you've been smoking or whatnot but just remember we live in a society here
